Getting Here
Gwernaffield and Pantymwyn villages are both on the Flintshire Tourist route. Follow the brown signs from the north (Cilcain) in ascending order, and from the South in contra direction.
Once in Gwernaffield, follow the road as it climbs to top the hill at the Golf Course, and it then descends into Pantymwyn.
From Mold (from Town Centre)
Climb the High Street past St Mary’s Church. Bear left at Bailey Hill through Pwll Glas. At the Give Way, follow directly straight up the Gwernaffield Road for 2 miles.
To reach Pantymwyn, continue through Gwernaffield.

At the large ROUNDABOUT (McDonalds, and Aldi), follow the Denbigh Road, past Lidl, for 400 metres. At the mini-roundabout, turn left into Dreflan. Follow this road, turning right into the Gwernaffield Road. Continue for 2 miles, and 3 miles to Pantymwyn
From Ruthin
After Loggerheads Country Park, follow the road towards Mold and Gwerrnymynydd, turning left in Cadole. Follow the road from Cadole to Gwernaffield (1 mile). At the crossroads by the Church, turn left for Pantymwyn.
From Cilcain
This road descends a steep hill (Trial Hill) with sharp bends to the narrow bridge (maximum width 6ft 6 ins). It then climbs on a single track road, no passing places, towards Pantymwyn.
Although it is on the Tourist Drive, it is recommended to drive with extra care and attention. Vehicles should be prepared to give way by reversing up or down hill.
In Pantymwyn, a sharp bend to the left drops firstly to the Post office, and then climbs towards the Golf Course. Descend the hill again into Gwernaffield.
By Bus The bus route from Mold visits the villages before arriving at the terminus in Pantymwyn. The service to Mold and beyond leaves hourly, on the hour from Pantymwyn.
Please note: An experimental “Do NOT use SAT-NAV” sign is erected in Gwernaffield. This is to prevent large vehicles going beyond the bus terminus in Pantymwyn. Please be advised that SAT-NAV directions on any other routes than the ones listed above will lead you through extremely narrow, winding, and single track roads, and should be negotiated only with extreme caution.
This is a farming area, and animals may be on the narrow lanes.
