'Discover Gwernaffield and Pantymwyn' Booklet
In 2008, Carole Philpot on behalf of the Community Council attended a briefing seminar on the proposal to prepare booklets about the local communities. Seeing the opportunity to support the villages, she persuaded the Community Council to commit £200 as its share of the venture. (The result was so successful that the amount was never needed).
On 29th November 2009, an Information gathering day was held in Gwernaffield Church Hall, and the amount of ‘history’ produced on that day would have filled many booklets. Photos, and details of the day may be seen in the Gallery section.
Local author, Lorna Jenner then wrote the text of the booklet, and William Smuts designed the layout. The result was a truly communal project which set the standard for the other villages which were then invited to create their own booklets. A set of the booklets can be accessed on cadwynclwyd website.
